OVERBERG: BMX RIDER'S PARADISE
Bicycle Moto Cross (BMX) originated in California during the late 1960s, inspired by the popularity of motocross. Young enthusiasts, unable to afford motorbikes, began racing bicycles on self-constructed tracks while donning motocross gear. This grassroots movement led to the formal establishment of BMX racing in the early 1970s, with the formation of a sanctioning body in the U.S.A. By 1981, the International BMX Federation was created, and BMX was integrated into the Union Cyclist Internationale (UCI) in 1993.
Our facility adheres to international standards, positioning us as a premier venue for BMX competitions.
We have proudly hosted both National and Provincial BMX championships, showcasing our commitment to excellence in the sport.
